The Shell Oil Company issued such pieces for several different advertising promotions. One series pictured various Famous Americans;
other depicted landmarks;
and another different antique cars. You received one free each time you made a purchase at a Shell filling station. The game pieces were
struck in aluminum.
When you completed the set, you could send them in to the company to receive various prizes. One of the prizes was a set of the same tokens,
struck in brass.
The aluminum pieces are extremely common, but the brass pieces are seldom seen.

В 1970 году компания Shell выпустила набор рекламных (сувенирных) жетонов, посвященный истории автомобилей. Набор состоит из 20 монет из
алюминия, диаметр 26 мм, толщина 1,5 мм,
по другим данным (или другие выпуски монет) - из никеля весом 10 г., диаметр 29,7 мм.
К каждому жетону с автомобилем прилагается карточка с описанием и историей, также есть общая брошюра. Монеты выдавались на заправках SHELL
при заправке на определенную сумму.
